What you need to know to become a New Referee with USA Hockey and for the local NCIHRA program, serving northern Colorado: Fort Collins, Windsor, and Greeley.
Everyone needs to get re-certified every year and that means taking a full day Seminar every year. NCIHRA Levels 1 and 2 Seminars are on Saturday September 13, 2008 at the Ice Haus in Greeley, CO. Other seminars can be found at www.cihra.org. You can Only take one Level per year, and New Officials start at Level 1. Pre-Registration for NCIHRA Seminars is required. A link is available below, 2008 NCIHRA Seminars,.. .
More details that you must read about this seminar is available on the home page. New Officials must register for Level 1. A link to a form to register for the seminar is available:

A separate USA Hockey Referee Application, the Rule Book, Open Book Test, and their fee is also needed. This also includes taking and scoring a passing grade for the on-line open book test from USA Hockey.
This is a separate and necessary part of getting Registered that is completed on-line at the following link. However, for New Officials you should wait to take the Test until very soon After the Seminar; unless you feel comfortable and
can pass the test. Remember this: Only one re-take and must be within 30 days.
After you are registered, completed a seminar, met all the requirements, you will then receive your Crest from USA Hockey, then you will be considered complete and eligible to work games. Then to get scheduled for games, go to the list of contacts and see the scheduler's information for NCIHRA scheduled rinks: for EPIC, for Providence, and for both Greeley rinks.
