F C A I H R A Meeting - now NCIHRA
Board & ALL Officials
September 29, 2005 - Thursday eve
start 7:00 pm at EPIC - Main meeting room.
News and Information from September 29, 2005 MEETING
We are now changing to a new Name and web Domain: www.ncihra.org
Please start using this web address.
The association will now primarily operate as Northern Colorado Ice Hockey Referee Association, NCIHRA.
Communicating between all of us at NCIHRA
Update our NCIHRA Roster - a work in progress, we are at about 75 officials. If your email or phone changes, then send a note to Marshall via email.
NCIHRA Issues with Code of Conduct and Game Assignments:
We will agressively assess game fee fines for Officials that are Late or are a No Show for games. You can find a Denver are CIHRA policy on their web site. We will follow a similar procedure.
There is also a Denver area CIHRA Code of Conduct for On-Ice Officials listed at their web site which is worth reading. That is the behaviour what we expect.
Scheduling for Games and use of the web site and email communication:
Detailed instructions of how we schedule were provided. The schedulers will send an email to all announcing when a schedule for the month is posted to the web site for that specific rink.
Each official that wants to work games will go to the web site, look at the schedule, and then reply back to the scheduler via email with their availability for open games, include the date, time, game level, and rink.
Remember that we have at least 3 rinks in different locations, with different schedules posted on the web site, and with different schedulers. The scheduler will make game assignments to distribute games among all
qualified officials. When they have posted a filled in schedule they will send another general email to all, instructing each official to again look at the web site schedule to see what games they are in fact schedueld for.
Many of us will need to avoid conflicts, or will need to reschedule some games, with similar game times at different rinks.
Some points of advice: Do not request games, say you are available for games, that you are clearly not qualified to officiate. If this is your first venture into working a game, remind the scheduler at the start
of your email and ask for some Mentoring for your first game. We will then try our best to have someone there to give you some additional help and support.
The schedule will show a column for a Referee and two colummns for two Linesman. If there is a NA in one of the Linesman columns then the game is worked as the 2-man Referee system.
Mentors and Evaluations: We need help and participation from all senior and Level 3 and 4 officials to help the new officials have someone to Mentor them during their first games. Let Marshall and the Schedulers
know of your availability for this task. There is a game fee paid for this and should be done on the Squirt level games. This is very rewarding and is most important at the very beginning of the season. Some information and the Mentoring procedure is available at the Denver CIHRA web site.
